UPDATE 2:01 PM: According to a release from the Salina Police Department, officers were sent to 1331 E. Ellsworth at 11:04AM in reference to a shooting.  An altercation had occurred and the victim, 43-year-old Ed Smith of 1331 E. Ellworth #1, was shot once in the left ear.  He was treated and released at the scene by EMS.

The suspect, 34-year-old Shannon Howell 1331 E. Ellsworth #2, was arrested for aggravated battery at the Salina Police Dept.

UPDATE 11:38 AM: Suspect is in custody at the Salina Police Department.

UPDATE 11:21 AM: The suspect contacted Salina Police and is in route to the police department. The victim was not seriously injured.

ORIGINAL 11:12 AM: Shortly after 11 am, police responded to a possible shooting at an apartment building at 1331 E. Ellsworth Ave.

Upon arrival, police confirmed that one person suffered a gunshot wound. It is not currently known if the injury is life threatening.

Police are searching for a known suspect.

The suspect is believed to be driving a 2001 Buick Century.
