Major Jennifer K. Chancy, Ret., 35, Delphos, KS, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012, with her family at her side.
Jenny was born July 16, 1977 in Salina to Terry and Janice (Trussell) Chancy. She was a 1996 graduate of Minneapolis High School. Upon graduating from high school Jenny accepted a Marine ROTC scholarship from Boston University. She graduated from Boston University in the spring of 2000. The next day, while standing on the deck of the USS Constitution, she was commissioned into the United States Marine Corp as a 2nd Lt. Following her commissioning Jenny attended Basic School in Quantico, VA, graduating in the fall of 2000. Upon completion of the USMC Basic School Jenny’s duty assignments took her all over the world. She was in Okinawa Japan for three years, Honolulu, HI for three years, Washington DC for four years, Honolulu for one more year, and Kansas City, KS for one year. During those times, Jenny was deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and she spent some time in Korea. She retired from active duty as Major Jennifer Chancy from the USMC on October 30, 2012.
Jenny had a way of lighting up a room with her beautiful smile and inviting personality. She showed great courage with her battle with cancer and she touched numerous lives all over the world.
Survivors include her parents Terry and Jan Chancy of Delphos; brother Chris Chancy and his wife Domi of Olathe; niece and nephew Milla and Fynn Chancy of Olathe; and grandparents Mildred Chancy of Minneapolis and Jean Trussell of Glasco.
Graveside services will be at 2 P.M., Tuesday at the Delphos Cemetery, Delphos, with military honors. Memorial services will be at 7 P.M., Tuesday at the Bennington Bible Church, Bennington with Pastors Michele McHenry and David Geisler officiating.

Corinne B. Norburg, 102, died Tues., Dec. 11, 2012 in Salina. She was born Sept. 19, 1910 in Salemsborg, KS and married Paul Norburg on Dec. 11, 1931 in Salina. Paul preceded her in death in 1969. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, WELCA and Tabitha-Ruth Group of the church.
Corinne is survived by her son, Duane, and brother, James Swedlund, both of Salina and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker and loved making quilts to give to relatives and charities.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation and no services are planned. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in care of Ryan Mortuary. Private interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
