SOUND OFF

1. Maybe somebody told the Mayans that in 2012 people would still be at war over religion, kids would be in danger while at school and countries would be destroyed by spending imaginary money so lazy people could sit at home and watch other people on TV. If so, I probably would have predicted the end of the world too.

2. We are going through some tough times as a nation. It’s a natural reaction to turn inward, become more guarded and distant. But now more than ever we need people to be there for their family and friends, and to reach out to strangers. We will get through this!

3. I don’t know what needs to be done to prevent tragic all these shootings like the one in Connecticut and the police officer shooting in Topeka, but something needs to be done. This isn’t happening in Europe, Australia or Canada.

4. There is a reason it is illegal to ride your bike on the sidewalk. You can’t come flying down the sidewalk and expect drivers that are backing up to be able to see you.

5. Hey City Commissioners, instead of spending millions on the Bicentennial Center, how about we spend a fraction of that on extra security at our schools? Millions on entertainment or a fraction of that for the safety of our kids?
