All the talk about gun control is quite unnerving to the American Patriot whose belief in all the Amendments, not only the Second Amendment, are precious. I have hoped and prayed that this gun control issue would not be such a hot topic but then we have mentally unstable people getting a hold of guns and using them in the most horrific manners.
No one can argue that the individual who shot up that elementary school was not sick. It the truth be known, and more and more facts are coming out, the man’s mother was attempting to get him help but laws were preventing her from having him committed to a mental institution. Had those laws not been in place, this tragedy might not have happened.
We have then a story of a mother protecting her children and herself as an intruder into their house was shot multiple times by her. Many people argue that she should not have shot this person more than once to stop him. The problem is, when a person is scared their judgment is quite different. I am sure I would have shot the intruder more than once, especially if he was still coming at me. Her only problem was she didn’t have the fire power with the first shot to stop him dead. This is proof enough we need to have the RIGHT to keep and bear arms, especially in our own homes.
Now I have noticed stories about students bringing guns to school out of fear and another story of shooters at a California school (Which happens on a regular basis, along with other crimes in the schools by gang members). Why don’t we look at the WHY not the fact that a gun was taken into a school. Was there truly a threat to that child? Was that child or young person really threatened or were they perceiving a threat and the mental capacity brought this on?
Another fact to ponder is that Hollywood seems to glorify the gore and horrific with movies and television shows. It is no wonder our children are killing each other and are narcissistic.
If we look at the number of gun using criminals in these tragic events, what is the common thread? Usually it is mental illness. Why then are we not focusing on the mental illness issue instead of the tools in which these nutcases use to create such horrific situations?
Can’t we see that there are a LOT of sick people out there and they are in need of real help, not just a pat on the shoulder and integration into society in which they are not capable of being in? Can’t we find ways to help them, instead of trying to prevent law abiding citizens the RIGHT to keep and bear arms? Why should law abiding citizens have to suffer for the nutcases and those whining liberals who want to integrate instead of isolate people who cannot deal with reality?
I remember when they first wanted to put students with social and mental problems into the classrooms with regular kids. It would be good for the problem student to feel more accepted. The problem is, as in nature, you put a student who lagging behind either mentally or physically, in a regular classroom and you pull down the others in the attempt to bring up the challenged student. In nature an animal that is not ‘normal’ for the herd is generally the downfall of the whole herd, not just the individual.
Don’t get me wrong, I want to see all children learn. I particularly love those who are challenged mentally. I think they need specialized training that a regular classroom can never give them. By letting them compete against themselves rather than a classroom of kids more
superior in mental capacity, you are doing them a greater justice. I’ve substitute taught classes of special education students. They are my favorite group to teach. Some of them are the most precious and fragile creatures and there are some with behavioral issues that border on criminal who are a danger to everyone and themselves. Those are the students who need the most structure and complete education and evaluation. Their acting out can be deadly even with a knife, scissors or anything they can lay their hands on. It does not matter if we take away all the guns in the world, only the criminals will have them, only they will attack and cause horrific sights as we have witnessed in the last couple of months.
It isn’t the gun that does the damage, it is the person using the weapon to do their evil and that is what it boils down to. Most of the people who have caused these tragedies are evil. They are not just sick; they are purely evil and should have been locked away long before they did their damage. How is a person to protect themselves against such evil people? The only way possible and if that means having a bigger gun or being a better shot, then that is our RIGHT given to us by a CREATOR (as defined in the Constitution) to protect ourselves, our families and our neighbors. Gun control is not going to work if the wrong people won’t abide by laws.
Time and again we see where these criminals get through the cracks in the system. Fix the system such as the laws already in place. Putting more rules up for law abiding citizens won’t stop evil criminals, hell bent on taking others out with themselves.
On another note, if Obama dictates from the White House, no one will have guns. History proves that the countries who’ve lose their weapons soon fall to the evil of their leaders who take the weapons away for their own agenda. Ponder that while the liberals attack me on my opinion.
