Last week the Salina Bombers achieved a first in franchise history, the first win. Tonight, the Bombers will try to start their first winning streak. The Oklahoma Defenders (1-2), come to Salina for Bombers game #3 at the Bicentennial Center tonight, kick-off is scheduled for 7:05.
After leading by 1 point at halftime last week, the Bombers blew out the Mid-Mo Outlaws in the second half and cruised to a 43-21 victory. It was the running game and short passing game for Salina that put points on the board. The Bombers used a trio of running backs in Frank Miles, Demetrius Cox and Quentin Benning to inflict damage on the Outlaw defense.
Tonight Salina will face an Oklahoma team that ranks last in the CPIFL in total defense. Given the Bomber offense has shown capable of throwing and running, it could be a high scoring game. The Bomber defense played well last week with the addition of David Williams at nose guard, but tonight the Bombers will be missing two defensive ends. Kyron Hill will be serving a one game suspension for a late hit in the game last week and Chris Pugh is out of state to attend a funeral. Salina’s defense will see the return of Pompey Festejo tonight. Festejo sat out last week due to injury.
The Bicentennial Center ticket office opens at Noon today with arena doors opening at 6:00 pm. The “Opinions” will perform during pregame. Gracie Stutterheim, an eight grade student at Southeast of Saline will perform the National Anthem.
Salina Bomber pregame starts at 6:30 pm on Salina Post and 99KG.
