Bombers Tap Sooner Pipeline

JonesThe Salina Bombers will have a new face on the offensive line Friday night, and some added experience. The Bombers have signed Jarvis Jones, an offensive lineman that has played in the AFL and former Oklahoma Sooner.

Jarvis Jones, a 6’7″ 315 lb versatile offensive lineman, hails from Richmond, TX where he attended Lamar Consolidated HS. Out of high school, Jones was projected as one of the top 10 offensive lineman in the nation. Jones attended LSU out of high school, where he played in seven games for the Tigers.

After his freshman season, Jones transferred to the University of Oklahoma. After sitting out one season due to NCAA transfer rules, Jones would go on to be a productive member of the Sooner offensive line playing both guard and tackle. In 2009 Jones earned Big XII Honorable Mention by the Associated Press. He helped the Sooners to a Big XII Championship in 2010. Jones senior season in 2011 was clouded by a knee injury that required surgery.

After his time in Norman, Jarvis Jones has been playing with the Orlando Predators in the Arena Football League. He was reassigned on March 19th, and became eligible for other ventures.

Jones is expected to help the Bombers, who currently are missing a key piece to their offensive line. Roy Richard is attending a NFL Regional Combine in Dallas the kept him away last week and for the game this week vs. Sioux City.

Sioux City strung together a 31 game winning streak before losing to Omaha on the road Sunday in overtime. The Bandits come in to Salina with a 3-1 record. Game time on Friday is set for 7:05. Tickets are available at the Bicentennial Center ticket office or at www.salinabombers.com.
