The Salina-Saline County Health Department and Salina Animal Shelter strongly advise pet owners to keep pets’ rabies shots up-to-date!
Large numbers of skunks have been reported lately; and just last week, a skunk in the Gypsum area tested positive for rabies.
Children and adults should be warned not to approach wild animals, even if they appear friendly.
Do not leave food and water outside for pets, feral cats, or wild animals.
Animals exhibiting unusual behavior should be avoided and reported to the Animal Shelter 785-826-6535 or local law enforcement.
The Animal Shelter loans out live animal traps to the public as needed.
