Inmates from the Ellsworth Correctional Facility Thursday cleaning up trash along the ditch of southbound I-135 near Assaria, find a mortar round.

Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says the round was about 10 ” long and had fins at the bottom.

The bomb squad from Ft. Riley was called and they disposed of the round.

The round was discovered in the area of milepost 85 of I-135 about noon time.
