The first reading of ordinance 13-10699 regarding alcohol sales on Sunday and holidays was passed unanimously by the mayor and Salina City Commissioners.
Questions were brought up if this ordinance would make it mandatory for retailers to sell on Sundays and Holidays. The answer was no; it would not make it mandatory for them to be open or sell unless the retailer wanted to be.
The ordinance will not go into effect for 60 days; as to allow citizens to voice their concerns before it is put into affect.
Updates will come in the following weeks.
