No one injured when a portion of a former hotel in downtown Minneapolis collapsed early Friday morning.

Minneapolis City Administrator Barry Hodges said the northeast corner of the old Parker Hotel collapsed around 6:00am, and a portion of the building that fell hit a riser that covered a gas line that was broken.

As a precaution while the gas was being repaired, the Minneapolis Post Office and some nearby apartments were evacuated. The gas line has been repaired and the Post Office resumed business, and the residents of the apartments returned home.

Cause of the collapse is under investigation.
