Neither the Salina Airport or Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport have the new full body scanners, but that hasn’t stopped the question from bubbling up.

The question has reached a boiling point nationally. Saturday, a California man recorded the experience on his cell phone camera.

John Tyner, Oceanside,  refused to go through the body scanner, opting for the pat down instead. When it came to the groin check Tyner reacted saying, “…if you touch my junk I am going to have you arrested.”

The TSA worker then called for a supervisor, and was later escorted out of the airport. Tyner later posted his screening on the YouTube which has set off a national firestorm.

The TSA responded by saying it, “Respects travelers wishes when it comes to security check options but that all passengers must be checked.”

Along with the concern of public humiliation involved with TSA officials viewing passengers nude bodies, many are also concerned that the government may have underestimated the risk posed by the dose of radiation delivered by the body-scanning machines.

There appears to be no compromise on the table as far as the TSA is concerned, “Submit or don’t travel.”
