Tomorrow the National Weather Service and the Kansas Division of Emergency Management will recognize Winter Weather Awareness Day.
Safety officials recommend using the day to prepare for winter weather, including the following:
- Winterize cars by checking snow tires and antifreeze levels.
- Never fall below a quarter tank of gas in your vehicle
- Keep an emergency kit in the trunk with flashlights, safe heating source, water, snow shovel, extra blankets, batteries, necessary medications, and high-energy food snacks.
- Be prepared to be without power for at least three days by assembling a home emergency kit.
