No We Can’t

Mr. President, I stood beside you for some time.  I received your daily emails that always ended with a request for funding.  “Yes We Can” you told me.

You told me the incentives that were given to the wealthiest 2% of our citizens under the Bush regime would be rescinded.  I kept up my support under a heavy barrage from Sarah Moonies.

But, today you flipped your “Yes We Can”, to a “No We Can’t”.

I believe you told me, “If you’re walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking, eventually you’ll make progress.”  I was walking down that path Mr. President.  I was being a good follower.  But, you failed as my Leader.

I don’t want any flimsy excuses that you just had to take a concession.  We’ll fight another day?  I prefer Napoleon’s strategy of burning the ships once he landed on a mission.

It appears that your strategy is to turn the ships around to face the sea in case you decide to cut chase and run at the last moment – while the strong followers at the front of the march get slaughtered.

Did you not tell me, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time?”  Today, you went back on those words.  Now, you tell me exactly the opposite.  We’re supposed to wait for some other time.

“Change doesn’t come from Washington.  Change comes to Washington.”  Those are your words.

Here’s a quote for you Mr. President, “White cat or black cat, as long as it catches mice, it’s a good cat.”  Unfortunately, no mice are getting caught in Washington – white cat or black cat.
