Broken water main in Solomon leads to Boil Water Advisory

A water main break in Solomon has led to a boil water advisory.

From The City of Solomon facebook page:

“The water system will be pressurized and the wells turned on to fill the water tower. It will take awhile before you have adequate water pressure at your home. Please be patient as we are working as fast as possible.
Due to loss of pressure in the water distribution system, it is possible for contaminants to enter the system. Chlorine residuals may have dropped to levels that are inadequate to protect against bacterial contamination.

  1. Boil water vigorously for one minute prior to use.
  2. Use only boiled water …for drinking, brushing teeth and food/drink preparation.
  3. Dispose of ice cubes and do not use them from a household automatic icemaker.
  4. Disinfect dishes & other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of household bleach per gallon of water.
  5. Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing so water is not ingested.

The advisory will remain in effect until testing of water samples indicate no evidence of contamination (minimum of 24 hours). Check back for notification that Boil Water Advisory has been rescinded.”
