January 4, 2011 – The Salina Public Library’s monthly book discussion on January 10 will feature “The Glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls. The discussion will begin at 7 p.m. in the Tech Center Conference Room.
In “The Glass Castle,” the author recounts her childhood with an alcoholic father and an eccentric artist mother who outmaneuvered bill collectors and authorities while their children fended for themselves, supporting one another as they weathered their parents’ betrayals. Describing her parents with deep affection and generosity, Walls tells a story of triumph against all odds and a family that gave her the fiery determination to carve out a successful life.
Copies of the book are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk at the Salina Public Library.
