There is more to giving than money

SALINA – It’s a day of caring, it’s a day to feel good. On Saturday April 9th The Volunteer Connection in partnership with Serving Salina Together will host another community work day in Northern Salina.

Volunteers will gather at 8 a.m. to offer their time, skills and muscle to help those in living north of Elm Street who are physically or financially not able to complete projects themselves.   Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and protective equipment.  Any volunteer willing to provide a pick-up truck and/or trailer for transporting trash to designated dumpster sites are welcomed.

Civic clubs, churches, schools, businesses and individuals of all ages are invited to serve together for the common good of all Salina.  Many businesses are donating equipment and assistance to collect trash and recycle metal.

People wanting to volunteer their time from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, April 9, 2011, can call the Volunteer Connection at 823-3128.  Individuals, churches and groups can also register by sending an email to admin@nckvc.com.
