SALINA — Four Kansas State University at Salina students have been selected as interns for SeaPort Airlines through part of the university’s partnership with the airline.

Through the new internship program K-State Salina students with a 3.0 or higher grade point average, who have completed the required classes and achieved the necessary ratings, are eligible for the internship.

Interns will complete SeaPort Airlines’ first officer training program and spend two academic semesters or one academic semester and two summer sessions flying for SeaPort.

SeaPort will conduct interviews three times a year to select students for the internship program.

“This partnership between K-State Salina and SeaPort is a wonderful opportunity for our students,” said Kurt Barnhart, head of K-State’s aviation department. “The internship gives them the chance to build flight hours in the industry. This will be the first group of many to hold this position.”

The four students selected for the inaugural intern class are

Carol Cooper, junior in professional pilot, Hutchinson; Robert Cory, senior in professional pilot, Englewood, Colo.; Anthony Greer, senior in professional pilot, Liberal; and Phil Thomson, senior in professional pilot, Overland Park.
