Bubble Nation

We all know the story of the “Bubble Boy.” He must live in a bubble because exposure to the elements outside his bubble would mean certain harm, or even death. I am not sure many of us could live like that, yet we are becoming a “Bubble Nation.”

Every time there is a disaster in the world, it is on TV like a soap opera, lasting days or even weeks. I am reminded of the nightly war, that played during the Vietnam War, and resulted in the nation becoming war weary and ended with the defeat of America and freedom. When there is a shooting or a mass shooting, the call goes out to ban guns, even though 98% of the time the shooter or shooters prove to be unstable, and many knew about it before the incident.

Natural disasters occur and we have been led to believe it is because of global warming, and laws are pushed to stop carbon emissions. Flu season comes and we are told it will be a pandemic. So we are told to rush out and get masks, wash our hands 10 times a day, use hand sanitizers, and cough up our sleeve. An explosion on an oil rig causes a great oil spill and we are told it will destroy livelihoods of thousands, the ecosystem, and fish and wildlife, and we blame big oil, and oil in particular. We need to stop! drilling off shore. Other nations can, but we won’t because we want to save the planet. Then there is the latest natural disaster.

A nuke plant in the middle of an earthquake. “Radiation will come to the west coast,” was the warning on the TV news soap opera, causing people to run out and buy preventive drugs, and the government to declare open warfare on nuke plants. Inspect all of them, stop building new ones, close down those that MAY be at risk, should an earthquake occur. Chicken Little is alive and well, in our “Bubble Nation.”

Like it or not, the reality is, stuff happens. Mother Nature rules. If we pass a law every time she goes on a rampage, we will be back in the Dark Ages.
