Is There A Secret To Weight Loss?

Weight loss and maintenance is one of the most difficult lifestyle changes to make.  Why are some people successful and others not?  Many factors play a part,  including discipline, support, motivation and drive.   Only a small percentage of  people are able to lose weight and keep it off; only a small percent are willing to change their lifestyle permanently.  Sara has been successful in losing 115 pounds; here’s what worked for her.

How long did it take you to lose this much weight: It took me about 2 years

People want to know, how did you lose it? At first, I watched what I ate and controlled my portion sizes.  I cut out enriched flour and started eating whole wheat bread and pasta.   I also was a regular pop girl so I changed to diet but only a couple a week.   I added more fruits and veggies to my diet as well.  After I got stuck at 185 pounds, my friend brought me to CardioKICKS.  I continued doing that 3 days a week and threw in FIT CLUB when I could.  After doing that, the pounds and inches came flying off!  I also have gone down 10 dress sizes.

What motivated you to get started?

With both of my pregnancies, I had gestational diabetes and got up to 247 pounds by the time I delivered my youngest daughter.  My body hurt all the time and I couldn’t stand the way I looked,  especially when I saw myself  in a photo.  My husband was also diagnosed with diabetes and I decided we needed a change!

What is your WHY, your main focus that keeps you working on it day after day? My main reason for continuing on with this lifestyle change is the good old saying of “Nothing tastes as good as feeling fit feels.”   It sounds corny but it does feel great to be able to run and play with my kids and not feel tired all of the time.  I also have terrible knees and a bad ankle and losing all that extra weight has really helped.
