WICHITA, Kan. (AP) – Police in Wichita believe the death of a
man found last week in a trash truck at a recycling center was a
bizarre accident.

 

Authorities on Monday identified the man as 49-year-old Dale
Archuleta.

 

Police say officers were called twice late Thursday and early
Friday to a motel to break up arguments between the man and his
girlfriend, both described as highly intoxicated.

 

KNSS-AM reports Archuleta apparently then went outside, climbed
into a trash bin and passed out. The bin was picked up by a trash
truck, and the man apparently was killed when the truck’s recycling
equipment was turned on.

 

Archuleta’s body was found when the truck stopped at the
recycling center.

 

The truck made 53 stops overnight. Police checked each location,
and found no evidence of criminal activity.
