LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) – A newspaper is reporting that a settlement appears likely in a lawsuit against the University of Kansas fraternity over a pledge’s alcohol-poisoning death.

The Lawrence Journal-World reported Monday that attorneys for both sides have told District Judge Michael Malone they will submit a settlement proposal, possibly by the end of the week.

The parents of Jason Wren last year sued Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity after the 19-year-old freshman was found dead in his bed March 8, 2009.

An autopsy found that he died of alcohol poisoning, with a blood-alcohol content was 0.362 percent. The lawsuit alleged fraternity members didn’t seek medical help for Wren despite his intoxication and a head injury.
