Upcoming KWU exhibition to feature variety of media

SALINA — With its extensive range of media, the Annual Kansas Wesleyan University Student Juried Exhibition might just have something for everyone.

The exhibition is scheduled for April 8-22, 2011, in The Gallery, Sams Hall of Fine Arts. The Gallery is open to the public at no charge. Parental discretion is advised as some work may contain partial or full nudity. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday and on weekends by appointment.

“There will be a wide range of media displayed at this exhibit: drawings, paintings, ceramics, graphics, and photography, just to name a few, so there should be something for everyone to enjoy,” said Lori Wright, Assistant Professor of Art. “The last several student exhibitions have been wonderful. I expect this year’s work to be no different.”

Wright explained that all KWU students who were enrolled in an Art class during the 2010-2011 academic year were invited to submit work to be juried for this exhibition. Jill Wagner, an independent freelance graphic designer, will serve as this year’s juror.

A Gallery Talk in conjunction with the exhibition is scheduled for noon on April 12, 2011, in The Gallery. Gallery Talks are informal discussions about the artwork and are open to the public at no charge. Guest are invited to bring a brown bag lunch if they like. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Additionally, an artists reception is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 7, 2011, in The Gallery, and will include remarks by KWU Art faculty and the exhibition juror. The reception also is open to the public at no charge.
