An Emporia man was killed and two more were injured in an accident Friday afternoon near Council Grove.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the driver of ’95 Toyota Tercel attempted to pass another vehicle and crashed into an oncoming semi-trailer.

Martin Delarosa-Morales, 45, was transported to the Morris County Hospital where he later died. Benjamin Benitez-Encisco and Daniel Benitez-Encisco were also transported to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released, but KHP is reporting that Daniel Beniteze-Encisco was later transported to KU Medical Center in Kansas City.

The driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.
