GIRARD, Kan. (AP) – A school board election came down to a coin flip this past week in southeast Kansas.
After Tuesday’s election, Megan Fry had been losing by two votes to Randy Flora for seat on Frontenac Public Schools’ board. But two provisional ballots were added to her total Friday when the Crawford County Commission met to canvass the results.
That left the race deadlocked at 296 votes and forced a coin toss.
The Pittsburg Morning Sun reported that the coin landed on tails, giving Fry the seat. Fry says she’s always said “every vote counts.” She says some people scoff, but the coin flip proves the adage is true.
