For the first time since 2005, Salina Municipal Court will have an “Amnesty Week” April 25th thru April 29th, that will forgive “Fair to Appear” and “Fail to Pay” warrants.
Municipal Court Officer Tim Brown says that if your name is listed in the Salina Buyer’s Guide on April 19th or on one of several websites including www.salinapost.com, the warrant fee will be waived and the warrant canceled without an arrest if you voluntarily appear at the Salina Municipal Court at 255 N. 10th.
You can clear up warrants between the hours of 8a.m. and 5:45p.m. between the 25th and 29th of April by paying your fine or appearing before the Municipal Court Judge. You will need to have a photo ID and proof of insurance , if you have been charged with no proof of insurance. Only Salina Municipal Court warrants are included in the program.
At the end of Amnesty Week, warrants which have not been addressed will again be subject to a $50 warrant fee and the warrant will be active.
Within 30 days following Amnesty Week, Salina Police and other law enforcement agencies, will conduct a warrant sweep.
Officer Brown says there are currently 2700 outstanding warrants in Salina Municipal Court for “Failure to Appear” or “Failure to Pay”.
