TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) – Kansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Lawton
Nuss is among 48 state leaders selected to attend a fellowship
program by the Council of State Governments.
Nuss is named a 2011 Henry Toll Fellow, a program named in honor
of the Colorado senator who founded the Council of State
Governments in 1933.
The program will be conducted in September in Lexington, Ky., to
develop leaders from legislative, executive and judicial branches
across the country.
Nuss was appointed to the Kansas Supreme Court in August 2002.
He was named chief justice in August 2010 and acts as the court’s
spokesman and exercises general administrative authority over all
courts in Kansas. Nuss is also head of the Kansas Judicial Council.
