Luke Hochever was perfect through five innings last night then the wheels came off in the sixth and Kansas City falls 7-5 to Cleveland to fall two-games back of the American League Central leaders.
Hochevar (2-2) retired the first 15 batters he faced and 31 straight dating back to his last start, but in the sixth, he gave up a single then balked the runner to second, gave up a double then after two groundouts balked another run in to tie the game and things continued to fall apart after that.
Cleveland starter Justin Masterson, meanwhile, remained unbeaten in four decisions giving up two runs in the first then nothing the rest of the way. Jeff Francoeur hit a 3-run homer in the ninth and has hit safely in ten straight. Alex Gordon extended his hit streak to 14 with an RBI triple in the first.
