After a long hard winter, and weather postponements, the Minneapolis Raceway is set to open it’s 6th season of IMCA racing on Saturday.
The weather forecast is for dry and sunny conditions so drivers, fans and staff are ready to go after anticipating opening day for several weeks. The drivers have put alot of work into the preparation of their cars for the season opener.
Last Sunday, a “Test & Tune” session was held which hosted 80 cars. Several drivers were pleased with the condition of the track, and said that the surface was fast and ready for competition.
Four IMCA classes will open on Saturday, the Casey’s General Store Modifieds, the Bank of Tescott Stock Cars, the T&R Dirt Construction Sportsman Modifieds, and the Coors Lite Hobby Stocks. Each class boasted close competition for their respective track championship in 2010, and the same is expected to start off the chase for the championships in 2011.
The Pit Gates will open at 4pm and the Grandstands will open at 5pm. Hot Laps will start at 6pm with the first green flag racing scheduled for 7pm. General Admission for adults is $10, for kids aged 7 – 14 admission is $5. Kids under age 7 are admitted free! Fans are encouraged to come enjoy the exciting races, great food and new restroom facilities at the Minneapolis Raceway.
