Letter to The Post: Energy Policy or Lack Thereof

By Sam Pridey

My last rattlings were about the oil speculators.  Now, we need to take a look at our energy policy, or as some may say, lack their of.

The sad part is that I can’t just blame it on this regime.  The problem goes way back in our history. We have left drafting of our energy policy to the Sierra Club, Green Peace and every other environmental left wing wacko group that would have us walking to get around instead of using the modern conveniences that make life simple, in this, the greatest nation god ever gave man.

These individuals don’t even want us riding animals, because that is animal abuse.  Sounds like the inmates are running the asylum and those of us who have our feet on the ground, head on our shoulders and can reason properly are ignored and treated like the village idiots.

Our immaculate leader, the anointed one, went to Brazil and said we wanted to help them and we wanted to be their number one customer, instead of taking care of our energy issues ourselves.  Very misguided, very disapproving of your own country and very dismissive of the American can do spirit and will.

Between Alaska, the shale beds under Colorado/Wyoming/Utah, and off shore drilling we could eliminate our need for foreign oil.  However, we are being beaten to the punch by the Chinese and other countries who are drilling in international waters off our coast, because we are not allowed. DISGUSTING.

I support the above drilling and the creation of more refineries.  I also support solar, wind and, god forbid, nuclear.  How many years have we worked, safely, with nuclear energy in the United States Navy?  More years than I can remember.  There is no reason why that we can’t do it on land just as Europe does.  If we only opened these options and we would undoubtedly see prices drop. I believe that is the real bottom line, isn’t it?

To make any of this happen we need an administration that is going to tell the environmental wacko left that we are going to do this and they can either get on board or get out of the way.  Then and then only, will we start to make progress on our energy policy.  Something has to be done.
