2 K-State students charged in pop-bottle bomb case

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) – Two Kansas State University students have been charged after a pop bottle bomb was found on the Manhattan campus over the weekend.

University police say the two 18-year-old suspects from Overland Park were charged Monday with criminal use of explosives.

Joel Matthew Watkins and Jacob Anthony Termini were arrested in their dorm room and released from the Riley County jail on $2,000 bond each.

Campus police logs say the explosive was found Saturday, but provided few other details. The Manhattan Mercury reports that police say the explosive was made from mixing several chemicals and sealing them in a bottle, which eventually explodes. Police say the debris and chemicals hurled when the bottle explodes can be dangerous.
