On Thursday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central High School auditorium, forensics students will perform a variety of different events including oration, extemp, inform, duo, prose, impromptu, duet and more. Community members are invited to enjoy this free event.
“When students perform for the community, they are able to overcome any fears of public speaking,” said Nicholas Owen, forensics teacher at CHS. “After students have graduated and come back to visit, they always point out that their public speaking experience in forensics was key to their success. They found not only their coursework came easier but also just the ability to be social and outgoing as part of the transition from high school to real life experiences.”
This is an opportunity for the public and school personnel to observe the students performing their events which they will be competing at state competition. The team is vying for an unprecedented fifth consecutive state championship in 5A.
