KANAPOLIS, Kan. (AP) — A young central Kansas couple are reopening an iconic drive-in theater that spawned special memories for more than five decades before closing in 2006.
Josh Webb and his wife, Amanda, bought the Kanapolis Drive-In in October to give folks in the town of about 500 something to do without having to drive a long way.
The Salina Journal reports support has been strong for the drive-in, with nearly twice as many people “friending” it on its Facebook page than live in the entire community.
The theater opens next Saturday with a double-header featuring the movies “Rango” and “Thor.”
Josh Webb says he and his wife bought the theater because it had been sitting empty for so long and was starting to fall apart.
The drive-in first opened in 1952.
