Saline County Rural Firefighters Offer Water Trailer For Controlled Burns

Story by Hannah Furbeck, Deputy Director Saline County Emergency Management

The Volunteer Firefighters of Rural Fire District #6, with the assistance from the Volunteer Firefighters from Rural Fire District #3, have constructed a trailer complete with a 200 gallon water tank and an 18 horsepower pump to be loaned out to the citizens of Saline County to help with fire management of controlled burns.

This trailer is available for use, at no charge, by contacting a Rural Fire District #6 Representative. In consideration for the use of the trailer, the user must have a 2” ball hitch with a 4-lead flat connector on the vehicle that will be utilized for transportation of the trailer.

Citizens will be able to lease out the trailer for a period of 24 hours. The user must also provide documentation that they have liability insurance coverage that will cover the use of the trailer and pump.

The volunteer members of Rural Fire District #6 and Saline County Emergency Management encourage citizens to take this opportunity and use the trailer when conducting controlled burns. Having a water source available and near by greatly reduces the risk of fires becoming out of control.

For additional information or to schedule the use ofthe trailer, please contact one of the representatives from Rural Fire District #6:
