Health Care and Hypocrisy in Topeka

By Richard D. Fry

I cannot believe the level of hypocrisy and deception that is involved with the Kansas Health Care Freedom Act and Obama Care in general in Kansas.

I can no longer sit back and silently endure those who pretend to be the diligent servants and in some cases champions of the citizens’ Rights (God given) when in fact they are the ones who are pacifying the citizens while undercutting the very Liberties for which they are purporting to fight!

I received an invitation sent by Senator Cook regarding the signing of the Kansas Health Care Freedom Act, which said in part:

From: Mary Pilcher Cook [mailto:mary@pilchercook.com]

Subject: Join me at Health Care Freedom Act Signing Tomorrow!

“…I encourage those of you who can make it to Topeka this Wednesday to do so. The signing will occur on Wednesday, June 1, on the Sine Die date, and it will be at 9:00 a.m. in the Governor’s Ceremonial Office. If you cannot attend, I encourage you to contact Governor Brownback and thank him for signing this important piece of legislation….”

While we are all “thanking” the good Gov. Brownback for signing this faux citizens’ liberty bill (HCFA) let us also thank him for his hypocrisy in giving Insurance Commissioner Praeger the approval in December to start designing and implementing the Kansas Insurance Exchanges (KIE)! The only practical use for the KIE is to implement Obama Care (or Romney care)! It is a precursor to a “single payer” health care system which is also known as socialized medicine! So, the Governor has approved the implementation of Obama Care in Kansas even though Kansas is involved in a lawsuit to stop Obama Care. Tomorrow he is signing a bill which purportedly protects Kansans from Obama Care. This is the height of hypocrisy; adds injury to insult and is in fact an outright deception, otherwise known as a lie!

I wonder why I am the only one who can see this, but take no pride in doing so, knowing that “…in the land of the blind the one eyed man is King…” Am I the only “Joe Wilson” in Kansas!?

The Governor himself, in a letter to Obama and another to Sibelius, said Obama Care was “un-Constitutional,” would “destroy” the Kansas budget and would “ruin” the private insurance market! To support the implementation of Obama Care, as the Governor has done, under any one of his assertions would constitute a breach of his oath of office. For one who has taken an oath to “support” the U.S. Constitution, as the Governor has done on more than one occasion, to support the implementation of an “un-Constitutional” law is, in the words of Chief Justice John Marshall, “treason to the Constitution.” (See Marbury v. Madison (1803))

According to Obama Care, if the states do not set up the insurance exchanges, the federal government is threatening in to come in and do it for (to) the states. The Governor has tried to justify his support of KIE based on the rationalization or his agreement with some special interest groups who prefer Kansas officials violate our state sovereignty and the Constitution, rather than for the federal government to do so.

The primary duty of our elected state officials is to defend our (God given) Rights not to act as surrogates for the federal government in trampling them. There is never, never, never any acceptable excuse for violating the Rights of the citizens and walking on the Constitution!

The good and overly trusting citizens of Kansas should be at the Capitol tomorrow, NOT to sing the praises of the good Governor, but to drum him from office for this hypocrisy, “…treason to the Constitution…” and his violating his oath to uphold the Constitution.

Does Kansas otherwise need these insurance exchanges? It is obvious the answer is no. Are these exchanges part of Obama Care? Absolutely! And, the federal government is providing millions of dollars to Kansas to develop these exchanges as part of Obama Care.

Is Obama Care Constitutional? Kansas’ formal position is that Obama Care is not Constitutional, that is the basis of Kansas’ suit against the federal government, along with over twenty eight other states. Gov. Brownback stated multiple times when he wanted us to elect him as governor that Obama Care was un-Constitutional and again he stated such in writing at least twice after being elected.

It is this kind of conduct for which Michelle Malkin dubbed Senator Brownback, “Senator Switchback.”

We need to ask Senator Cook why her voice has been remarkably silent while this betrayal HAS BEEN GOING ON!

Citizens of Kansas need to lie down their party banners and pick up the flag of the Republic!

For the sake of Liberty including in the Great State of Kansas,
