The Salina Municipal Golf Course will host the Kansas Boys Junior Amateur Golf Tournament on June 14, 15, and 16. It’s the first time since 1994 that Salina has been the location for this state tournament and Salina Municipal general manager and PGA professional Steve Hardesty said, “We are very excited to hold the premier junior event in the state of Kansas for 2011. The Kansas Golf Association runs a variety of great tournaments and we are honored that Salina Municipal Golf Course has been chosen as the host site.”
Eligibility for the tournament is limited to male junior golfers who have a Kansas Golf Association membership; parents who are KGA members will also qualify the junior player. Boys must be 18 or under as of June 14, 2011 or recent high school graduates.
Contestants will play 18 holes of stroke play on Tuesday (June 14) and Wednesday (June 15). After 36 holes of stroke play in each age division, the field will be cut to the low 15 players and ties.
Five age groups will make up the competition: 14 and under, 15, 16, 17, and 18. Each age division will have individual winners and standings. After 54 holes of stroke competition, the low score will decide the tournament champion. A sudden-death playoff will be used, if necessary, to determine the overall champion.
