Topeka – Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has ordered flags in the State of Kansas to be flown at half-staff on June 7th, 2011, pursuant to Executive Orders 10-12, in honor of Sergeant Thomas A. Bohall, 25, of Bel Aire, Kansas, who died on May 26, 2011, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

“I offer my deepest sympathies to the Bohall family,” Gov. Brownback said. “Sgt. Bohall answered the call to serve and he is a hero for his sacrifice. The state of Kansas and her citizens are deeply grateful for his service to our country. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

Sgt. Bohall joined the Army in August of 2005 and had been stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky since October of 2008.

The attack on Sgt. Bohall’s unit also took the lives of the following five service members:

· 1st Lt. John M. Runkle, 27, of West Salem, Ohio

· Staff Sgt. Edward D. Mills Jr., 29, of New Castle, Pa.

· Staff Sgt. Ergin V. Osman, 35, of Jacksonville, N.C.

· Sgt. Louie A. Ramos Velazquez, 39, of Camuy, Puerto Rico

· Spc. Adam J. Patton, 21, of Port Orchard, Wash.

The group was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Sgt. Bohall’s survivors include his wife, Jessica, and daughter, Annabelle, both of Essington, Pa.
