Two Salina men are in jail on charges connected to the robbery of a taxi driver late Tuesday night.

23-year-old Zachary Payton, and 20-year-old Roderick Sneed, both of 331 West Republic are charged with robbing 53 year old Gary Stout of Salina who drives for Sunflower Taxi.

The pair were picked up at 940 S. 10th about 10:40 pm Tuesday evening and told the driver to take them to the Chalet Apartments at 415 E. Republic.

When they arrived in the parking lot, they ask Stout for change for $50. As he was getting the change, one of the two grabbed the drivers arms and also began hitting him in the back of the head, while the other grabbed an unknown amount of cash.

Both took off running, but were arrested a short time later at their home.

The money was recovered.
