Brock Wilbur was born and raised in Salina and from a very young age, he has traversed most of the stages in Salina, performing in plays, dancing, lending a hand in variety shows or with church groups, and performing with various bands he founded.
Following graduation from Salina South, Wilbur was accepted at Northwestern University, and pursued a major in screenwriting. During his tenure at Northwestern, he interned with a team of writers and producers on the grounds of Universal Studios. Upon graduation, he packed up his stuff and moved to California, with his car and most of his worldly possessions.
Over the course of the time in California, he’s been involved in numerous projects ranging from a liaison for MTV, writing several movies, to appearing in several episodes of “Scrubs”. He has even begun regularly appearing at The Comedy Store in Hollywood, as a standup comedian.
Wilbur is now attempting to produce a movie in Hollywood called Your Friends Close.
It’s a “dramedy” about a group of video gamers who are partying together one evening, when things begin to go awry. Fellow Salinan, Ricky House has also been cast in the movie.
Wilbur said, “It’s been a dream of mine to write, produce, and act in, an independent movie for many years, and now it’s about to happen.”
The catch is that the team needs to raise enough money to make the movie. While the total budget is in the $15,000 to $20,000 range, the team needs to raise $7,500 from folks who would just be interested in helping out.
If you would be interested in helping fund the movie, simply follow this link: https://kck.st/jLXnfI If the movie’s target financial goal of $7,500 isn’t reached within the next 19 days, the funds are returned to anyone who participates.
Donations are typically committed through a person’s Amazon account, but checks can be made and mailed to Your Friends Close, c/o BANK VI, P.O. Box 77, Salina, Kansas 67402-0077.
(Kickstarter is an online website for helping folks get some capital to make creative projects happen, and Brock and the actors there could use your support. In return, they are willing to send you thank you’s and tokens of their appreciation, for your help. $30, $50, $100… it all makes a difference for a film with such a small budget.)
