SALINA, Kan. — For the first time since the last night of racing before the track closed in 2006 the Salina Speedway will put double features in the spotlight for tonight’s event on Friday June 24, 2011.
Three divisions will be a part of the double features.
The first being the Belleville Motorsports Modified division, whose twenty-five cars were the second largest count of the season. Brandon Massey will hold down the pole position for the make-up feature from June 17 with track veteran and multiple time Champion Brian Knoell to his outside. Points leader Danny Morrison Jr. will start from outside the fifth row while close points contender Corey Lagroon will start from outside row seven. The BMS Modifieds will not only have twenty laps for their first feature of the night but another twenty later in the night along with qualifying heat races and consolation features.
Another of those divisions will be the Xtreme Motorsports B-Modified division, where the man sitting on the pole is an Xtreme Motorsports driver, rookie Brenden Damon. To his outside will be Bob Dauer, who had a great run going in the last feature held at the track before grenading a motor late in the race. Points leader Tyler Sutton will start from inside row five with the most recent feature winner and runner-up in points, rookie Jesse Levin, starting outside row four. The B-Modifieds will run 15 laps in the make-up feature and then 15 laps in the new show as well.
The Auto House Mod Lite division will make up their feature from last week as well. Starting from the pole will be rookie female driver Jill Roberg, who had an upside-down kind of week a few weeks ago but has rebounded nicely. Karmen Kindall will start from her outside while points leader Tyler Bradshaw will start dead last in thirteenth. Once again the division will run 15 laps for the make-up event and 15 later on for tonight’s show.
The Blind Pig Sports Lounge Hobby Stocks will return tonight with enthusiasm as the class seems to be finally growing. The last time the Hobby Stocks were in attedenace they put on the show of the night with Mark Normandin coming out on top. Normandin sits six points behind leader Mike Traskowsky with Dennis Berry only seven points behind Traskowsky. Shannon Johnson and Kelly Pihl round out the top five as sixteen different drivers have now visited the Speedway with new cars expected again tonight.
The Accurate Electric Front Wheel Compacts had their show snubbed by the weather last week but return in full force tonight as every driver from last week’s event in the Front Wheel Compacts will receive a free pit pass. Brandon Lobdell sits at the top of the point standings by ten over Cody Johnson. Branston Arnder, Justin Betzner, and Kevin Hackett round out the top 5 in the standings.
The Coors Light Stock Cars will have the night off.
Racing kicks off half an hour earlier tonight at 7:30PM with Pit Gates opening at 4:30PM and Grandstands opening at 5:30PM, and Hot Laps at 7:00PM.
