SALINA, Kan. — Racing kicked off in the one hundred degree heat on Friday night July 15 but ended with rain as the final two races of the evening were postponed.
The Coors Light Stock Car and Belleville Motorsports Modified features were postponed as rain began falling on the Speedway. The Modified feature will be made up next Friday night July 22 while the Stock Car feature will be made up when they return on July 29.
Before the rain set in three feature events were completed, two of which were won by drivers having birthdays this week.
The first to visit victory lane was Minneapolis’ Kevin Hackett, who celebrates a birthday on Saturday (July 16). Hackett took home his second win of the year in the Accurate Electric Front Wheel Compacts ahead of hard charger Wayne Juenemann. Brandon Lobdell finished third with Garett Hake fourth. Hackett and Juenemann also won the heat races.
The second of the birthday boys in victory lane was Justin Kinderknecht who took home the win in the Auto House Mod Lite division. Kinderknecht, whose birthday was on Wednesday (July 13) was able to hold off Dustin Forsberg, Ryan Ayers, and rookie Jill Roberg to take the victory. Kinderknecht was also the Hard Charger. Forsberg and Kinderknecht were the heat winners.
Tyler Sutton added to his points leader and held on for the win in a barnburner with the Xtreme Motorsports B-Modified division. Sutton held off Josh Rice, Jesse Levin, and Shane Meeks to take the win. Sutton was also the hard charger. Rice and Sutton were the heat winners.
Tony Milholland won the heat race in the Coors Light Stock Car division while Brandon Massey, Brian Knoell, and Shannon Johnson won the heat races in the Belleville Motorsports Modified division.
Racing continues next Friday at the Salina Speedway. In action will be the Belleville Motorsports Modifieds, Xtreme Motorsports B-Modifieds, Auto House Mod Lites, Blind Pig Sports Lounge Hobby Stocks, and Accurate Electric Front Wheel Compacts.
