More hot weather will continue through Wednesday regionwide.
Afternoon highs will climb into the upper 90s to 100s for most areas. Heat indices well above 100 degrees are anticipated.
A slight relief in the heat will be possible by Thursday over northern Kansas, spreading south for Friday and Saturday, as a weak frontal boundary sags into the region from the north.
Consequently, scattered afternoon and evening hit-and-miss thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday evening through Friday evening across the region.
Today: Sunny and hot, with a high near 102. Heat index values as high as 107. South southeast wind between 6 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 80. South wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
