Kidnapper Apologizes To Salina & Lindsborg Victims

Louis Trujillo

SALINA, Kan. (AP) – A Texas resident who broke into three Salina area homes and kidnapped people to collect on a drug debt says methamphetamine destroyed his judgment.

Luis “Lucky” Trujillo was sentenced Monday in Saline County District Court to eight years and eight months in prison. The Salina Journal reports that the 28-year-old Mexican citizen pleaded no contest in June to two counts each of kidnapping and aggravated residential burglary.

Trujillo apologized to his children and to the people he frightened when he broke into two Salina homes and one in Lindsborg last Nov. 1. He was trying to collect on a drug debt of about $3,000.

Trujillo says meth turned him into a different person who neglected his children and family. Four other people were also convicted in the kidnappings.
