KWU Athletic Director Steps Down

SALINA, Kansas – In order to bolster the Sports Exercise Science Department and enhance the nationally accredited program’s impact on students, faculty, and the general mission of Kansas Wesleyan University, Athletic Director Matt Williams will step down to concentrate on his role as a faculty member and director of the athletic training program.

The University is very grateful for the commitment and contribution Williams has made to the athletic program and to the many successes Coyote teams have achieved during his six year tenure. His achievements include 35 conference championships, one regional championship, and numerous appearances in post season tournaments. His athletic department leadership will be missed, even as he is welcomed into academics full-time.

“I am excited about having Matt’s full-time focus in leading our growing athletic training program. We are very pleased to have an athletic training program that is overseen by someone with a doctorate degree,” said University Provost Wayne Lowen.

Kansas Wesleyan will name a replacement athletic director at a later date.
