A couple of years ago, the Salina Police Department began cracking down on drivers making improper left turns at intersections on multi-lane streets.
Drivers were doing a better job of staying in the left lane after making a left turn, but Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney says that officers are noticing a sharp increase in drivers once again swinging into the right lane during a left turn.
Officers will begin issuing citations for drivers making improper turns immediately. Sweeney said that Thursday afternoon, at 9th and Saturn, a driver making an improper turn bumped into a police car while the officers was making a right turn.
So remember, do not make wide turns when turning left onto multi lane streets.
