A 34-year-old South Carolina man was arrested Saturday evening on felony theft and trespassing charges after taking a pickup belonging to a Salina auto dealer while he was inside cleaning carpet at the dealership.

Jason Tipler was arrested after he was found inside a garage in the 900 block of Twin Oaks Drive by the homeowner.

Tipler had placed a duffel bag in the garage, and the homeowner told him to stay put until police arrived. Officers found several keys on key rings, hand tools, and a .32 caliber Kel-Tech handgun inside the 2006 Chevy Dura-Max Dually owned by Tim Sankey of Sankey Auto at 801 E. Crawford.

Tipler had found a key to the truck in the glove box and drove it from the dealership to a parking lot at Salina South High School, before he was caught in the garage on Twin Oaks.
