Salina Firefighter/Paramedic Shane Pearson has been appointed by Gov. Sam Brownback to serve on the Kansas Board of EMS advisory Board as the fire service representative.

Pearson, a 10 year member of the Salina Fire Department, has over 18years of experience in emergency services will serve on the board for a 4 year term. The 15 member board oversees and directs EMS for the State of Kansas on such items as:
 Training
 Certification and Licensure
 Scope of practice
 Authorized activities for each level of certification
 Laws surrounding EMS

The Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services exists, primarily, to ensure that quality out-of-hospital care is available throughout Kansas.
