A Wichita mother who admitted making repeated bomb threats to her daughter’s elementary school has been
sentenced to 31 months in prison.
Lawyers for Shanna Loman had hoped for probation when the 29-year-old woman was sentenced Tuesday in Sedgwick County District Court. KAKE-TV reports that school officials requested a harsh sentence, saying Loman’s actions took time away from the classroom.
Loman pleaded guilty in May to phoning nine bomb threats to Payne Elementary School from November 2009 to April of last year.
She was arrested after police staked out pay phones near the school and spotted her making the final call.
Investigators said Loman admitted making the threats because she was unhappy with some staff at the school, where she served as a parent volunteer.
