A 27-year-old man has been arrested for damage to property and theft, after being caught clipping grounding wires off power poles in north Salina early Monday afternoon.

Robert Bade of 1716 Summers Road was seen by a Saline County Sheriffs Deputy on N. 9th clipping the grounding wire on a power pole.

Bade ran and was quickly caught.

He apparently had cut the ground wire on 20 power poles. Officers found about 15 pounds of copper wire in a bag that belonged to Bade.

The wires were cut on power poles on Woodland and Harsh. Damage estimated to be $2,200.
