Leavenworth authorities are trying to identify the body of a white male found floating in floodwaters in the city.
Police Lt. Kevin Crim says the body was found Saturday inside Leavenworth city limits. He says it appears the man’s body had been in the water for some time before becoming snagged in brush.
The Leavenworth Times reports that an autopsy was performed Monday but no cause of death had been determined.
Crim says there were no outward signs of foul play. A part of the street where the body was found was closed this summer because of Missouri River flooding.
