A 47-year-old who was shot by her mother-in-law after a family dispute in eastern Kansas has died.

Investigators say Ida Cole died Friday after being hospitalized in critical condition since Tuesday, when 57-year-old Elaine Eldred shot her at a home near Dunlap.

Morris County deputies say Eldred was upset that her son, Jacob Cole, and his wife, Ida, showed up at her home wanting to take scrap metal and other items from the property.

KAKE-TV reports a heated argument led up to the shooting. Investigators say Eldred then turned the gun on herself and was found dead at the home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
